A restful day. I did laundry mid afternoon and soaked my feet in the pool here at the hotel. The rest of the day was laying down and talking with family.
I’m glad I took this Zero now - after a couple days in the Whites. This allowed me to get some exposure to the terrain - so I can mentally prepare for the week ahead.
Tomorrow will be a 10.1 mile day - but the vertical ascent will be over 5,000’. I’m expecting a really tough day. I’ll be summiting 3 more 4,000’ peaks - Lincoln, Lafayette, and Garfield. I’ll be hiking on Franconia Ridge - arguably the most anticipated and most talked about area (not only in the Whites - but perhaps the entire AT trail) for its tremendous scenery. I’m excited to see the sites - but anxious about the trek to get there.
The weather has some rain in the forecast the next 2 days. Hopefully it doesn’t turn too bad to keep us off the exposed peaks. I’m taking this 1 day at a time. Keep it slow and steady!
