A really solid 18.9 mile, 4,875’ vertical ascent hiking day!  Sam, Rock Flipper, Pearl, and myself all did the section together via slackpack. The weather was really nice today - with a comfortable breeze most of the day. There were 2 climbs over 1,000’ before lunch - but the afternoon was mostly flat and downhill.

One of the Hostal caretakers was telling us about a place in Hanover with great margaritas and food post-hike. That was are incentive to perform today. The margaritas were the topic of discussion most of the day.  We ended up powering through the afternoon stretch. We did 10.6 miles in 3 hrs-45 min. Solid performance!

So - at the conclusion of the hike, we had a great dinner at Mollys. The margaritas were as good as advertised and I had a great avocado chicken sandwich. It was about 7pm by the time we got our shuttle back to the Hostal.

Tomorrow - we move forward with full packs again. We’re looking at a 14.1 mile, 4,200’ vertical day (most every day for the next 2 weeks will have vertical ascents at 4-5-6,000’). Hopefully the weather can stay calm and cool. Honestly - if we would have weather like today (low humidity and no rain) throughout the Whites - the level of difficulty would be greatly reduced. But —- that’s highly unlikely.

Here’s to keeping strong!  Here’s to taking on your fears and being better for it!  Here’s to continued health and inspiration as I continue my journey in New Hampshire.
