Lots & lots of things happening right now. It’s definitely hard to coordinate with limited cell signal out here on the trail.  Trying to get Smokey’s backcountry permit, trying to get the correct shoe inserts to help my heel pain, trying to get a resupply box sent with my new water bag, trying to get Mothers Day gift, trying to get rental car for trip to Smokey’s, trying to get hotels for Waynesboro on Sunday(10th) and in Standing Bear on Monday (11th), trying to get a shuttle to bring me from Standing Bear back to Stecoah Gap the morning of Tuesday (12), and I’m trying not to freeze to death with an incoming cold front coming through with freezing rain expected the next couple days

Praying for the best and just trying to take 1 thing at a time.  The rain is supposed to start tomorrow around 11am - so I have my alarm set for 5am. I’d like to be on trail by first light at 6am.

Today was another really big vertical day - nearly 5,000’ again. It was actually harder for me than yesterday (even though I went 4 miles less) because of the technical nature of the trail.  The weather was nice and I got to the shelter at 4:20pm - so all good.

2 Cans is here again tonight - and a section hiker is staying here as well. Tomorrow- 2 Cans goes home for 3 weeks to take care of a few things. Hopefully I’ll see him again at some point. Chickweed and Cambyr are doing their own thing. They took an easier day yesterday - hopefully we can meet up soon. So - I’m sort of out here alone again.

I’m going to keep things short tonight. It’s 9:10pm and I need some sleep

Here’s to limited hypothermia exposure tomorrow!!
