Italy - Dolomites - Day #3

 Day #3 - Italy - Dolomites

Saturday, August 8th

Today was a pretty relaxing day touring around Venice - walking 11 miles for the day.  We started off the morning walking over the Rialto Bridge - 1 of 4 bridges that cross the Grand Canal in Venice - and the most iconic of the bunch. Only 4 bridges cross the Grand Canal - we did 2 of the 4 during our stay:  Academia Bridge & Rialto Bridge.

We worked our way over to the Venezia Santa Lucia train station after getting some photos of the Rialto Bridge.   We did some recon for our transportation tomorrow - as we’ll be leaving by FlixBus from Venice Mestre train/bus station.  We got our tickets to get from Santa Lucia to Mestre.

Next, Greg had left his IPad on his international flight coming into Venice from Philadelphia.  He filled out a lost/found form on line - but we wanted to try going back to the airport to file a report locally.   We took a bus back to the airport - and an unbelievable stroke of luck happened.  We stroll into the airport, immediately see a sign for “Lost Devices”, we walk up to the window, and within 10 minutes - Greg had his IPad back in hand.  We couldn’t believe it!!   We figured we had about a 1% chance of getting it back.   The lady at the counter seemed like she was almost anticipating us to arrive.  Conversation:   Greg - “I accidentally left my IPad on my international flight yesterday into Venice from Philadelphia - it was an American Airlines flight.  Lady at Counter - “What color was it, can you describe it?”  Greg - “it’s black with a roll cover”.  Lady at Counter - “Just a Minute”.   She comes back with it, Greg gives her the security code to access the IPad, she verifies his passport - and we were on our way.   We were in the airport no longer than 15 minutes. Unreal - we needed to buy a lottery ticket!

After the airport, we worked our way back to our AirBnB for a quick rest break - trying to cool down, as the temperatures were pretty brutal today.

Around 4pm - we headed back down to St Marks Square area and did a bit more site-seeing.  The night ended with a great dinner at an outdoor table right along a side canal.

Another really nice day in Venice!
