**  Rain Day - huge storms overnight and into the early morning today. After rain cleared - turned into very nice weather

—————

It’s 7:45pm here at the Windsor Furnace Shelter. I have about 70 miles left to complete in the state of Pennsylvania. The goal is 5 days to complete this section.

As I was writing the blog last night - a big storm was moving into the area. It rained most of the night - with the heavy, heavy rains coming around 3am. It poured down on us the first hour of our hike today. We walked through deep puddles of water for 2+ hours. The weather did improve mid-morning - and the afternoon was filled with sunshine and clear skies. I still had to walk around in wet shoes/socks all day - causing a bit of blistering on the top of my toes.

A solid 14.7 miles with a couple nice climbs today.  We walked through the town of Port Clinton after 9 miles. We were hoping to stop for lunch - but the lone restaurant in town was closed. The only store open was a candy shop. We stopped by for a soda and got a bag of trail mix and some candy bars before finishing the day.

Sherpa Mike hurt his ankle late yesterday and walked in some pretty bad pain today. He’s been icing it since we completed the hike. He wrapped it as well - taking some Advil. Hopefully he’ll be feeling better tomorrow. We decided to stop at around 15 miles today so he can get some rest (with the shelter locations - we may not have gone any further regardless).

The goal is to push pretty far tomorrow if possible - targeting 20+ miles. So here’s one of those dilemmas when you’re trying to stay with a group. Sherpa Mike is a great guy - but who knows how long this ankle sprain could keep him on the bench. What do you do?  Do you wait a week or 2 weeks until he’s healthy?  Caruso and I talked about it today. We’d be willing to rest an extra day - maybe two - but just can’t stop for an extended time. Caruso - like myself - is on a pretty tight schedule. We’ll see what happens tomorrow- but this is a developing situation.

Another day with no rattlesnake sighting - very thankful!!  The course has been rocky - but it let’s up enough to make it tolerable so far. You go through long stretches of nothing but rock - but then you get some nice terrain for a bit. I am continually warned that the rocks will get much worse. 70 miles - just hang in there - I can do it!

The weather is set to be really nice the next few days - with highs only in the low 80s. Hopefully we can take advantage of the green light conditions. Rock hopping is fun - right?  Is it possible to brainwash yourself to believing this is true. Well - I’m trying!

Goodnight from eastern Pennsylvania- not too far from Allentown!  “Well - we’re living here in Allentown”. (Sing it for us Billy Joel)
