Day #15 - TMB Trek

Hiking Day #10 - Planpraz to Les Houches - 7.7 miles, 2,506’ ascent, 5,843’ descent
Happy 50th B-Day Greg!! What a way to celebrate #50 - by completing the TMB, on an incredible weather day, in one of the most scenic areas in the world. Not too bad!!
Today involved a 2,500’ climb up to the 2nd and highest gondola in the area. Next - we had a pretty grueling 5 mile, 5,800’ descent. We brought it home under the arches in Les Houches - then had a celebratory beer where we started 10 days earlier. Greg and Korby got it done - I gotta bring it home for the team tomorrow.
After a great lunch - we spent a few hours late afternoon getting all our gear packed up - as Greg/Korby have plans to visit the glacier tomorrow and will be checking out early as well.
We had a great finish/B-Day dinner right on the river that runs through Chamonix - a great Italian restaurant. What a perfect day at the foot of the Alps!
Early to bed. I have a 3:30am taxi pickup tomorrow. The goal - 19.6 miles, 5,278’ ascent, 6,505’ descent - and complete the TMB. Wish me luck!!
