Costa Rica Trip
Day #6 - Tuesday, January 13th
Today we transitioned to our next adventure location - La Fortuna, Costa Rica. We had a 3-hr transfer - departing our hotel in Monteverde at 7:15am.
The trip included a 1-hr shuttle ride, followed by a 1-hr boat ride on Lake Arenal, then a 1-hr shuttle into La Fortuna. We first went to the Adventure booking center to review tour options for the next couple days. La Fortuna is a lot about the water activities and hiking —-- white-water rafting, waterfall rappelling, and volcano/waterfall hikes.
Our group of 9 is pretty diverse - so we had some different interests. Kip, Gus, Greg, and I decided to do some hiking tomorrow - to explore some waterfalls and the volcano. We’ll meet up with the rest of the group in the evening for dinner/drinks.
After getting our schedules figured out for the next couple days - we had a great lunch at the Lava Lounge on the Main Street in La Fortuna. The clouds rolled back just in time for us to get some great pictures of the Arenal Volcano. The weather in La Fortuna is much warmer than Monteverde. Monteverde is at a higher elevation and generally has stronger winds than La Fortuna.
After lunch - we checked into our hotel that we’ll be staying at for 2 nights — Magic Mountain. This place is really nice. A couple different pools, a swim-up bar, and several different hot tubs located around the premises. It was about 2:30-3:00pm — so we took a much needed rest for about an hour.
After a quick nap - we explored the hotel grounds and met our shuttle driver for a 5pm pick-up. We next headed over to the Hot Springs in town - where we proceeded to hit a number of heated pools for the next 3 hours. Totally relaxing. Swim up bars, tons of people. Some pina coladas in fresh pineapple shells. Pretty awesome place for sure. We ended the night with some pizzas at the Hot Springs restaurant.
Another great day in Costa Rica! Here’s to more adventures tomorrow!!
