Costa Rica Trip
Day #11 - Sunday, January 18th
I’m about 2-1/2 hours into my 4-hr return flight from Cancun, Mexico to Denver, Colorado - aboard United Flight 1132. I took a little nap, got a snack - now I’m inspired to write a trip summary.
This morning was the first time on the trip I slept in past 8am. Leisure morning - Greg and I walked around some of the beaches near our hotel for a couple hours (3 miles or so). I headed to the airport at 11am for my 1:30pm flight - while Greg decided to hang back at the hotel pool for a couple more hours - as his flight is only at 4:30pm.
Well - another trip in the books. I’m always thankful to be able to travel - to have the ability/health to seek new experiences. I had a few goals I wanted to accomplish on the trip - and luckily I was able to make those happen. Those included: Visit Nicaragua, visit Costa Rica, experience zip-lining, and tour Chichen Itza. Everything else - was just gravy on top.
My favorite parts of the trip included: meeting/getting to know our tour group in Costa Rica, zip-lining over the jungle in Costa Rica, and touring Chichen Itza. The trip went really great and exceeded my expectations. Our hotels were very nice throughout the trip, the people we met were friendly/interesting, and the scenery was picture-worthy.
I knew very little about Central America, the Riviera Maya, and the Mayan culture before this trip. A big part of traveling for me is simply the education and history learned from visiting new places. I certainly gained lots of knowledge on this journey.
I’ll have tomorrow off work for Martin Luther King Day - giving me a chance to rest up and be ready to roll come Tuesday. I have lots of goals for 2026 - here’s to making things happen this year.
My next international trip will come this August 2026 - when I’ll be doing a hiking trip in the Dolomites of Italy.
Until then - Go a different direction on your daily walk tomorrow!!
