Who would have thought that laying around in a hotel room all day in some random city would be such a luxury.  But - Zero days - doing absolutely nothing - are pure gold when hiking the AT. I’m actually not sure if it could be done without some rest and recovery along the way.

I put together a 19-day plan to be in Hanover, NH by July 11th.  It’s aggressive- but very doable. This would leave me with 443 miles in NH and Maine. I’d like to complete that section in 30 days. So - as of right now - I’m targeting an August 11th completion date. Now - this is obviously just something on paper currently. There’s so many uncontrollable factors that could affect this - but it’s nice to have a goal/plan in place - it keeps me focused and inspired out here.

“Grandpa” showed up with a fuel canister for me mid morning. That was great. This was the one thing I couldn’t get yesterday that I really needed to continue on the hike.  In between resting - Caruso and I walked down to a local sub shop for lunch and went to a barbecue place for dinner. Outside those short walks - I was inside in the air conditioning. It was really warm today - still 86 degrees at 6:30pm.

Tomorrow I ramp it up again. A 7-day, 117 mile segment awaits before Great Barrington, MA and my next hotel stay. 7 days - 6 nights in the bush. I’ll complete New York and Connecticut during this segment. It’s crazy how fast things are going right now.

Trying hard to keep focused. I’m missing family and friends back home. I’m missing the normalcy of a standard schedule. Just 1 day at a time. Showing up is half the battle. Here’s to staying safe and healthy - and knocking down the final 786 miles of the AT!
