Costa Rica - Day #8

 Costa Rica Trip

Thursday, January 15th

It’s 3pm - we’re currently in a shuttle bus headed to San Jose, Costa Rica.  We left La Fortuna at 2pm today - we still have a couple hours before we’ll arrive into San Jose.

A rainy day today in La Fortuna.  It didn’t stop us from doing our Arsenal Volcano day hike.  The name of the hike in AllTrails is:  “El Silencio Viewpoint Loop”.    3.7 miles, 853’ vertical - about 2 hours.

Kip, Gus, Greg, and I hung together again today.  We met for breakfast at 7am and were in an Uber headed to the trailhead by 8am.   Hike started at 8:30am - were back to the hotel by 11am.

We had secured a late checkout at 1pm - so we finished up packing and then met the others on the pool deck for lunch before our 2pm departure.

La Fortuna was great.  A short visit - but definitely got to see the area and appreciate all the activities.  We got to see the La Fortuna Waterfall, the Arsenal Volcano, and experience one of the popular Hot Springs.   We also got a chance to do a couple great hikes.  We opted against the waterfall repel and white water rafting on this trip.  The repel was pretty expensive and we got to do some repelling during our zip-line day.  White water rafting was always a maybe - as we’ve had lots of these experiences in the past.  With the weather forecast showing rain all day today - we opted for a hike instead of the rafting.

It’s 10pm now - back in the hotel room in San Jose, Costa Rica.  We just enjoyed a fantastic evening/dinnr with the whole group to close out a wonderful trip in Costa Rica.  It’s always a bittersweet moment to say goodbye to a group of people you’ve spent the last week getting to know so well.  This group was really special and I’m hoping we’ll keep in contact in the future.  We talked about a lot of inspirational topics at dinner tonight.  How meeting new people and sharing past experiences can make us better - inspire us to take on that next challenge, that next adventure.  I’m so thankful to be able to travel and meet great people along the way.  It truly is my favorite part of traveling.  The sites and adventures are special in many ways - but the people you meet while doing these adventures - now that is meaningful on a whole new level.  As we discussed tonight - everyday, do something that scares you. Get out of your comfort zone - go the other way on your daily walk - you just never know what’s around that next corner.

Good night from Costa Rica!!!
