We started today aboard our 12hr, 30 minute international flight from Chicago to Tokyo. Tokyo is 14 hours ahead of the central time zone in the US. Therefore, alot of Sat, July 2nd didn't really happen for us.
We arrived into Tokyo about 3:35pm local time on Saturday afternoon. We had a lengthy 2 hr line through imigrations/customs. By this time, we had all been up for about 24 straight hours. Sleep deprivation was kicking in. Everything went really smooth overall today, the line was the only challenging part. We next exchanged some money and took the Narita Express train into the City. The international airport is actually about an hour train ride into the main city center. We arrived around 6:45pm. We next hopped on a metro train to Nishi-Shinjuku. - about a 30 minute metro ride to our final destination - Hotel Rose Garden Shinjuku.
7:30 pm checked into the hotel. We each got some sort of complimentary welcome kit and were escorted to our room to help with setup. Temperatures here are a muggy 90 degrees F. After figuring out the toilet (toilets in Japan are complex - techy), we maxed the AC and just crashed for a few minutes. We ended up going around the corner to grab a bite to eat. I had a beer and some ham. Randy/Wendy had some mussels. We didn't feel like researching stuff too much - so we rolled with it. 100% Japanese menu - we kind of pointed to our selections.
Bedtime at 9pm. Travel days like this are always amazing to me when you look back. I started "here" and look where I am "now".
Tomorrow we start to make some things happen!
Loving your posts, Kyle! Keep them coming!
